In Scotland, humanist couples have been able to have a legally binding humanist ceremony since 2005. Legislation to legalise humanist marriages in England and Wales was passed in 2013 but still hasn’t been activated. The Government has said that it will finally recognise humanist marriages but only as part of wider marriage reform.
What this means to you: As current law stands, you will need to marry at a Registry Office prior to your ceremony with me, but watch this space, we hope this will change before too long!
